Hi there,
Last week, Mad reintroduced the Improving Justice Programs through Science Act which would create a Science Advisory Board within the Department of Justice. The board would be responsible for integrating scientific knowledge into crime reduction efforts.
And in order for our criminal justice system to be proactive, not just reactive, this board would provide guidance on a number of fronts:
- Understanding youth development to better inform matters related to juvenile justice
- Building trust between police and the communities they serve
- Emphasizing the need for trauma-informed care
If you agree that our criminal justice system needs to be guided by the very best research and evidence available, add your name in support of Mad’s bill here.
As Mad has said, “scientific research helps us figure out what works, what doesn’t, and how we can improve. It’s an indispensable element of good governance.”
Mad knows that there is more we can and must do to improve our criminal justice system. Add your name to stand with her in these efforts.
Sincerely,
Team Dean
