2021. It’s been a weird year so far!
From the high highs of getting vaccinated and reuniting with friends and family, to the low lows of an insurrection and the growing threat of right-wing authoritarianism, to the confusing middles of spooky new variants and Bennifer 2.0, it’s been a lot, and we understand if you’ve needed to take the last few months to tune out and recharge your batteries a bit.
It’s impossible to sustain the level of pre-November stress-donating and anxiety-phone banking so many of us were doing. But here’s the thing: The stakes couldn’t be higher as we head into 2022. Democracy is still under attack. And there’s work we can do to save it right now.
That’s why we’re introducing our brand-new No Off Years program. Whether you’ve been clutching a stack of blank postcards since the Georgia run-offs or need a friendly nudge to take a break from googling “Bennifer PR stunt?” and get back to work, No Off Years is the program for you.
After the incredible success of Adopt a State in 2020, our goal for 2021 is to once again support the groups and organizers laying the groundwork in key states ahead of 2022 through remote volunteer opportunities, targeted donations, and education on what’s at stake next year and beyond. So if you’re looking for a way to get involved right now, you’re in the right place. Sign up today and you’ll be getting your first action item from us soon!

2022 is the most important election of our lifetimes (yes, again) and No Off Years is designed to help get a head start on things like:
- Holding the House by fighting partisan gerrymandering, registering new voters as early as possible, and starting to have conversations early and often with less likely voters all across the country.
- Expanding our Senate majority by making early investments in key states with big Senate races like Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
- Fighting back at the state level, including against voter suppression and making sure voters know the importance of offices like governor, secretary of state, attorney general, and state legislatures in protecting our elections in the years to come. That work starts right now in Virginia (more on that later, but in the meantime, you can donate to our brand-new No Off Years: Virginia fund with Swing Left).
All of it starts in 2021. So sign up today and we’ll hook you up with a democracy-saving to-do list, and help you get connected with the groups on the ground doing the work right now.
2020 was an unprecedented year in American politics, and 2022 may be as well. (Bennifer may be the last precedented thing in our lives; cherish it.) Historically, the president’s party almost always fares poorly in midterm elections, so the odds are against us. But we have to do everything we can to make sure that voters understand the stakes and the choice ahead of us: A country where our leaders continue to fight for a progressive vision of America, or one where the people who’ve been attacking our democracy take power. We can’t assume we’ll see the same levels of turnout it takes for Democrats to win and overcome new voter suppression laws: We need to get to work—right now—to make sure it happens.
Thanks for doing your part,
Vote Save America
