Dear John,

With the Senate apparently on the brink of passing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework (BIF), we are turning our attention to the critical next step of the Build Back Better agenda: the $3.5 trillion budget resolution, the preliminary step toward a reconciliation bill that includes actions on climate change and the care economy and that requires only a simple majority to pass the Senate.

As part of the American Sustainable Business Council’s advocacy for the reconciliation bill as a necessary companion to the BIF, we are hosting a webinar on Thursday at 3p ET focused on the national paid family and medical leave provisions including in the reconciliation package.  The webinar will feature a senior Biden Administration official and ASBC members on a panel discussing the need and potential impact of a paid leave program on the business community.

The Budget Reconciliation Bill is expected to include a mix of provisions from President Biden’s American Families Act as well as the House Ways and Means Committee’s Building Economies for Families Act. Both adhere to principles for a national paid leave law for which ASBC strongly advocates, including universal, comprehensive, and inclusive healthcare, implementation of progressive wage replacement and efficient public administration.

Please Join ASBC in advocating on behalf of paid leave and the Reconciliation Bill by joining and promoting our upcoming webinar.
