Let’s be clear: It’s time to invest in our children. One of the best ways we can support our kids is through critical investments in education at every level.

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted what we already know — teachers play a vital role in the development of our children, our economy, and our future.

Yet an overwhelming majority of states reported teacher shortages last year, including in New Mexico, where there were 571 teacher openings in 2020.

I’m proud to share that I’m already working with several of my Senate colleagues to urge our leaders to pass legislation that ensures government support for training, mentoring, and professional development for teachers.

It’s important that we build a well-prepared, diverse, and stable educator workforce who will help our children grow and succeed — but we need your support to get it done.
