Fastenal sees better daily sales growth in July | Insight Enterprises' Q2 earnings, net sales increase | Arrow Electronics posts higher profit for Q2, H1
Fastenal's daily sales increased 9.7% in July, an improvement from June's rate of 1.7%. Total sales for July came in at $492 million, a 4.7% increase from a year earlier but down 7.8% from June.
Insight Enterprises earned $58.56 million in the second quarter, up from $46.39 million a year ago. The technology distributor had net sales of $2.23 billion, up 13%.
Arrow Electronics reported second-quarter profit of $240.6 million on sales of $8.6 billion, both up from a year earlier. First-half earnings also increased year over year.

Shipping containers are increasingly backed up at slow-moving ports and inland hubs in the US, Asia and Europe, with prices skyrocketing and shipping lines rushing empty units back to their starting points to pick up goods. A container that once took about 30 days to travel from Beijing to Chicago now takes over 70 days, according to Federal Maritime Commission member Carl Bentzel.
