Hey there John!
As the political newbie on staff, this last year with O2 Utah has been full of firsts for me. I worked my first election cycle, I tracked my first legislative session, I became an environmental advocate for the first time. Needless to say, my first year with O2 Utah has been quite the adventure!
It’s been a year of firsts for a number of our followers, as well. Being the Communications Director means I am typically the one receiving emails and messages on our social media accounts from members of our community. I wanted to share a few with you:
Eric from Sugarhouse sent us a message on Instagram that said:
“I’ve always taken for granted my ability to make an impact on cleaning our air. I’m just one person and the individual steps I can take seem so inconsequential. Thank you for pointing out the larger picture on how our elected officials need to step up! Broad, systemic changes are needed to actually make an impact. Time to reach out to my legislators for the first time and demand they take action!”
Here’s part of an email Haley in Millcreek sent in to us:
“All the facts and figures on the impacts of bad air mean nothing if the person on the receiving end won’t listen (or doesn’t believe the science!). Thanks for helping identify the candidates that actually care. I’m actually paying attention to my local elections for the first time this year!”
