Good morning from our nation’s capital! The left is running at full speed now, pushing a reckless “infrastructure” bill, a horribly misguided amnesty bill, and an unconstitutional ban on tenant evictions. The result, unless those running things in Washington can be stopped, will be explosive deficits, an even worse border crisis, and yet another attack on beleaguered property owners. That’s all featured in this week’s Agenda, as are podcasts, events, and a new fellowship program, and more.
Congress Continues Spending Spree with Irresponsible Infrastructure
Deal <[link removed]>
The Senate’s $1.1 trillion infrastructure deal is the latest boondoggle in an epic spending spree that will drive the deficit into the stratosphere and expand government control but do little to actually repair roads and bridges. “While supporters of the infrastructure deal claim it will help the economy, details in the 2,702-page bill suggest otherwise,” writes Heritage policy analyst David Ditch. Read Ditch’s full commentary to find out what makes this “bipartisan” deal such a dangerous waste of
money. <[link removed]>
Biden’s Eviction Moratorium Is Blatantly
Unconstitutional <[link removed]>
President Biden instructed the Centers for Disease  Control Tuesday to issue yet another “eviction moratorium” through October 3, 2021, following the original order’s July 31 expiration. Of the myriad problems with that move, one is particularly glaring – it openly contradicts Constitutional law and a U.S. Supreme Court ruling. “The CDC’s moratorium is precisely the kind of big-government power-grab the pandemic has made federal policymakers more willing to make in recent months,” writes Heritage research fellow Joel Griffith in his statement on the moratorium. Amnesty Is Not Infrastructure <[link removed]>
Our nation is reeling from an historic and purposefully created crisis on our southern border. In answer to this emergency, leftist lawmakers are laser-focused on…passing a recklessly expensive infrastructure deal (see above) to which they’ve attached an amnesty bill. And it’s only going to make the border crisis worse, says Chad Wolf, Heritage visiting fellow and former acting secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. “The idea that the Biden White House or the Democrats in Congress are talking about amnesty right now, that is only going to fuel this fire on the border that we have,” Wolf said in his recent appearance on Fox Business. Read Heritage’s fact sheet on the latest push for amnesty to learn more about the bill and the “infrastructure” deal. <[link removed]> Also, watch Wolf’s interview on Fox Business. <[link removed]> As well as a new Heritage video called “Amnesty Is Not Infrastructure.” <[link removed]>
