Team,

Recently, the nationwide eviction moratorium expired, putting millions at risk of eviction during a pandemic. So Ilhan joined Congresswoman Cori Bush, activists, and more progressive members of Congress on the Capitol steps to organize for federal action.

Our movement’s cries for justice worked — the Biden administration extended the moratorium for the majority of the country, ensuring that vulnerable people will not be put on the street as the Delta variant spreads rapidly.

It’s thanks to the leadership of Cori, Ilhan, and progressive organizers across the country that the Biden administration felt the pressure and acted to save millions from eviction.

But let’s be clear: Our work is far from over. Our movement has power, and we need to use it to keep pushing for long-term solutions to the eviction crisis, food insecurity, a lack of healthcare coverage, the student loan debt crisis, and so many other issues facing workers and families today.

Grassroots contributions like yours are absolutely critical to our organizing efforts — especially our rapid response work last week. Will you chip in any amount you can to help us continue our work for workers and families?

The reality is that the eviction moratorium is only a temporary solution to a mass eviction crisis. Renters and mortgage-holders will still face massive back payments once the moratorium is lifted for good, and our country has been going through an affordable housing crisis since even before the pandemic.

That’s why Ilhan has been organizing since the beginning of the pandemic to pass the Rent and Mortgage Cancellation Act to cancel rent and mortgage payments through the pandemic and give relief to small landlords.

As COVID-19 cases rise across the country, millions of people are also about to lose expanded food assistance, unemployment benefits, and the pause on student loan debt. We can’t let that happen. Last week’s victory showed that we get what we organize for, and we’ve got to keep it up and fight for long-term solutions that make life better for workers and families.

So if you can, please chip in whatever amount works for your budget. Your contribution will go directly toward our movement’s work for progress.
