As the Olympics come to a close today, I wanted to share some of my reflections as an Olympic athlete, and how they relate to Montana’s future. This email is a bit longer than usual, but it would mean so much if you read the whole thing:
It is an enormous honor and privilege to compete on the US Olympic team, and I had that great privilege as a rower in 1996 and 2000.
The Olympics are about much more than performing in one moment in time. They show us that the bounds of human achievement can surpass our imaginations.
The Olympics inspire us because they demand the best of us.
In this time of turmoil, it is good to be reminded that humans are capable of great achievement. Because greatness in today’s world requires us to be faster and better in so many ways and to do so at a national and global level.
Montana has a long tradition of strong leaders, and right now, the world needs our strength. That’s why I’m fighting to take my Montana work ethic, which made me successful in the Olympics, all the way to Washington.
But I need your help to win this open seat, and start getting real work done for the people of this state. So, can you spare $5 today? »

We need to demand greatness from those we elect, and ensure they’re working hard every day to restore respect for and economic strength of the middle class.
Together, we can elect better, harder-working leadership.
Thank you,
Monica
