John — Earlier this year, I filed suit against Mo Brooks and several others for their roles in inciting the January 6 insurrection. A lot has happened since then, so I wanted to give you an update:

After dodging my team for months as we tried to locate and serve him this lawsuit, Mo finally responded, but refused to take any responsibility for his actions.

In his court filings, Mo claimed that Donald Trump was the true winner of the 2020 election and that telling a crowd of violent insurrectionists to “start taking down names and kicking ass” was simply him performing within the “scope of his employment” as a U.S. Representative.

Mo even went so far as to ask the Department of Justice to verify that his role on January 6 was “within scope.” Well, John, — like we’ve been saying all along, inciting an insurrection on our nation’s capital, is indeed NOT within your scope as a U.S. Representative. Who would have thought?

The DOJ released a statement regarding the matter, saying, “Inciting or conspiring to foment a violent attack on the United States Congress is not within the scope of employment of a Representative — or any federal employee.”

Now, in a last-ditch effort, Mo has asked a federal judge to grant him immunity from this lawsuit. Why? Because he knows he’s in part responsible for what happened on January 6.

And you can bet so long as Mo tries to lie, dodge, and cheat his way out of his role in the insurrection — I will be there fighting to hold him and the rest of the GOP accountable.
