People For Member,
Donald Trump may have put his thumb on the scale of justice. That’s
according to a bombshell revelation in a letter received by Senators
Sheldon Whitehouse and Chris Coons from the FBI, pointing to what happened
as Trump sought to shield then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh from
the sexual assault allegations that emerged during his confirmation
hearings.^[1]
The letter outlines how the FBI referred the “most relevant” of the over
4,000 tips they received to the White House, making it uncertain whether
the FBI ever investigated on their own. Even a tip line that had been
established for Kavanaugh may have never been properly monitored. And
perhaps most damning of all, the FBI failed to interview Dr. Christine
Blasey Ford and Brett Kavanaugh!
[ [link removed] ]We deserve to know the full extent of how the Trump White House may
have created a grievous injustice in order to ram through Brett
Kavanaugh’s confirmation – we demand that the Senate investigate the FBI’s
mishandling of the investigation! >>
It is clearer than ever that the corrupt Trump administration was pulling
the strings. These revelations provide unsettling new insight as to why
Trump has spoken out with vitriol and a feeling of betrayal for nominating
Kavanaugh:^[2]
“Where would he be without me? I saved his life. […] I went through that
thing and fought like hell for Kavanaugh […] At great expense to myself
... okay? I fought for that guy and kept him. […] I can’t even believe
what's happening. I'm very disappointed in Kavanaugh.”
Clearly Trump was going to do whatever it took to ensure that Kavanaugh
was confirmed – even if it meant sweeping credible allegations of sexual
assault under the rug.
[ [link removed] ]Add your name to tell the Senate that it’s their duty to scrutinize the
FBI’s investigation into Kavanaugh and make sure anyone who obscured the
truth is held accountable! >>
We may have a different administration now, but that doesn’t erase the
harm that was done during Kavanaugh’s confirmation process (and by putting
him on the bench). The best path now is for the Senate to uncover the
truth about the flawed process and make sure that nothing like this can
ever happen again. Together, we’re going to hold accountable anyone who
tried to bury Kavanaugh’s past.
Thanks for all that you do,
Zach, People For the American Way
