John: While billionaires make space their new playground, working families back on earth are struggling to make ends meet -- and we know why:
From 2014 to 2018, 25 of the wealthiest Americans paid a true tax rate of just 3.4%. Compare that to the average American household paying 14% in federal taxes.
Billionaires have learned how to game the system, and as a result, people like Jeff Bezos nearly doubled their net worth during the coronavirus pandemic, while millions of American workers -- including folks right here in the Valley -- lost their jobs and fell into poverty.
Enough is enough: It’s time for billionaires to pay their fair share in taxes. If you agree, add your name to my petition now.
For too long, corporate billionaires and special interests have lobbied for tax cuts and financial loopholes in exchange for huge campaign contributions. As a result, they’ve had Washington politicians eating out of the palm of their hands while everyday people are left to shoulder an unfair tax burden.
In the time that it took you to read the first half of this email, Jeff Bezos literally made hundreds of thousands of dollars. But YOU likely pay a higher tax rate than he does!
I’m not afraid of corporate billionaires, which is why I’m demanding that they pay their fair share in taxes. Now. If you’re with me, add your name to my petition here.
Thank you,
Josh Harder
