John -- We’ve been sounding the alarm about gerrymandering in the South for years, and with the House majority down to just eight seats, Republicans could win control by manipulating the maps in just four key states:
Mother Jones “GOP Could Retake the House in 2022 Just by Gerrymandering Four Southern States” with quote “A new study finds that Republicans could gain up to 13 seats in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Texas.”

It’s part of a disturbing trend in the South: As the electorate grows more liberal, the Republicans in control do everything they can to entrench their own power. That’s why in addition to destroying voting rights, they’re jumping with joy at the chance to manipulate the maps this year.
And because the Supreme Court ruled that federal courts can no longer intervene in partisan gerrymandering cases, Republicans are going to pull out all the stops and design the most blatantly partisan, unrepresentative, and undemocratic maps they can. It’s up to us to fight back.
In key states across the South (and the rest of the nation), we’re already working with our affiliates to mobilize the public in favor of fair maps as the redistricting process gets underway. And John, we’re counting on people like you to help us keep up our work.
Will you pitch in today to help the NDRC keep fighting to stop GOP gerrymandering in the South and all over the country?
