Hi Revealer,
“Since when is being a teenager a crime?” is our new nonfiction comic that takes a critical look at the juvenile justice system. With juxtaposed stories of youth in South Dakota and Wyoming, we explore how the system attempts – and oftentimes fails – to keep kids out of trouble and out of the cycle of incarceration.
Illustrated by Eda Uzunlar, the comic is a stunning visual addition to our podcast episode “Juvenile (in)justice,” which Eda helped produce, along with Tennessee Watson. I hope you’ll check out both the episode and the comic.
For all you comic book fans who donated during our In/Vulnerable comic book campaign: Thank you! Recently, we got the amazing news that the series won a prestigious Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award. If you missed the chance to get a hard copy, you can still download the digital version on our website.
Thank you for your support – your membership helps fuel this important work.
