Celebrating Jefferson Parish's Softball World Series Champions
I want to give a special shoutout to the 8 and under softball team from Jefferson Parish Parks and Recreation (JPRD) for winning the Babe Ruth World Series in Jensen Beach, Florida. The girls made history as the first JPRD 8 and under team to play in a franchised tournament — and they took home the title to boot. What these girls accomplished is nothing short of remarkable, and I know they've practiced and competed hard to be crowned as champions. All of Jefferson Parish is celebrating this victory!
Meeting with the Morganza Action Coalition
I recently enjoyed catching up with members of the Morganza Action Coalition to talk about the importance of the Morganza-to-the-Gulf flood protection system. We discussed our recent victory in securing federal support for Morganza, which will not only provide much-needed flood protection in Southeast Louisiana, but will also protect the billions of dollars in economic activity transported through our region that provide valuable energy resources to fuel this country. We also discussed other important issues like our efforts to reform the NFIP and secure additional offshore revenue sharing so that we can restore our coast. These are all top priorities of mine for South Louisiana that I’ll keep fighting for in Congress.
Immigration Policies
The Biden Administration has released 7,000 COVID-positive illegal immigrants into McAllen, Texas, since February — including 1,500 in just the last week alone. More than 1,000,000 illegal immigrants have entered the United States through our southern border since President Biden took the oath of office and the number of illegal crossings is at a record 21-year high. Click here or on the image below to watch my remarks on the border crisis.
We've already got a full-fledged border crisis, but this has quickly turned into a super-spreader crisis at our southern border. American citizens cannot fly back to America from Mexico without first producing a COVID-negative test, yet illegal immigrants flowing into our country who have COVID are put on planes and sent into cities across the nation.
President Biden's immigration policies make absolutely no sense. This is a crisis he created, and we're going to be fighting to get sanity and normal, commonsense policies back in Washington.
It is an honor to represent you in Congress. For more information, please visit my website, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook pages.
