Republican legislative leaders have just one strategy to maintain and expand their influence over North Carolina’s government — and they’re not exactly being subtle about it.

Rather than promoting policies that will actually help the American people, the GOP plans to win elections by picking which voters get to have a say. Voter suppression is the name of their game.

Here in North Carolina, Senate Republicans passed a bill restricting mail-in voting, and communities of color and young North Carolinians — folks who on average are more likely to vote for Democrats — will be the most affected.

The fight against voter suppression is nothing new to North Carolina. Courageous activists have spent decades working to secure access to the ballot box for all of us.
