Congresswoman Tenney's Weekly Newsletter Contact Me Cuomo Must Resign and Face Immediate Prosecution WATCH: Congresswoman Tenney Calls on Cuomo to Resign The New York Attorney General's investigation into Governor Andrew Cuomo's sexual harassment of multiple women is just as damning as it is deeply disturbing. Governor Cuomo sexually harassed young women and then created a culture of fear and intimidation to cover it up. He abused his position, broke the law, and betrayed the trust of New Yorkers. He must resign and be prosecuted immediately. We cannot have a two-tiered justice system in America, which is why his reign of criminal corruption must come to end. I’ve been fighting to hold Cuomo accountable since 2014, when I first called for him to resign after he abused the Moreland Commission. He used it to attack his political opponents, then disbanded it when his own corrupt actions came under the microscope. Cuomo has ruled New York like a petty dictator for more than a decade. He’s killed our state’s economy and crushed opportunity across upstate New York for families and small businesses. His negligent policies and criminal coverup also led to the untimely deaths of thousands of seniors. New Yorkers also deserve to know who in his inner circle of thugs knew about his behavior, aided his predatory actions, and helped him cover it up. Cuomo’s coconspirators are just as complicit. They must also be held accountable. Foreign Affairs Committee Releases New Report on China's Role in COVID-19 Outbreak Republican members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee are laser focused on uncovering the truth behind the origins of the COVID-19 virus. I'm honored that my colleagues and I released an updated report this week that details COVID-19’s likely origin from the Wuhan Institute of Virology as well as the Chinese Communist Party’s extensive efforts to cover it up. With these facts now in hand, it’s time for our country's leaders to act. Congress must hold the CCP accountable. Several bills have been introduced that would follow through with action and deliver justice to the American people, but Speaker Pelosi refuses to bring them up for consideration. As Pelosi continues to stonewall in Congress, President Biden is not doing any better. He must take action to hold the CCP and institutions that were complicit in COVID’s spread like the World Health Organization accountable. If COVID happened once, it can happen again. Every day Speaker Pelosi and President Biden fail to act, the American people are at grave risk. Over 600,000 Americans died from COVID-19, including over 1,300 New Yorkers in my community. They deserve justice and I will keep fighting for legislation in Congress to deliver it. NEW: Read our updated findings here. Today is Purple Heart Day Today is National Purple Heart Day in the United States. Let us come together to remember and honor the courageous sacrifices made by so many heroic Americans from all walks of life since our Nation's founding. Did you know that in New York's 22nd Congressional District, Oneida, Herkimer, and Madison Counties have all been designated as Purple Heart Counties? This distinction honors the residents of these areas who have fought for our Nation and were wounded or killed in battle. America is the greatest country on earth and we owe this to those who have given their life for our country. Join me in reflecting on the service and honor of our Purple Heart heroes today and every day. May we never forget their service. Legislative Update: September 11th National Memorial Trail Route Passes House I was honored to recently support legislation to create the “September 11th National Memorial Trail Route,” which will connect the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in New York to the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial in Arlington, Virginia as well as the Flight 93 National Memorial in Pennsylvania. As the anniversary of 9/11 approaches, we must never forget those we lost on that horrific day. This bill will help ensure future generations pay proper tribute to those lives lost. The trail will serve as a reminder of America’s resilience in the face of such evil. Weekly Cospsonor Update I am pleased to share several bills that I cosponsored in Congress this week. I am focused on representing you in Washington and will continue to support commonsense legislation that delivers results for New York families, small businesses, and seniors. This is what I cosponsored this week: HR 4721: To withhold United States contributions to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) until the agency is reformed. HR 4785: To support the human rights of Uyghurs and members of other minority groups residing in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and safeguard their distinct identity, and for other purposes. Cuomo's Nursing Home Scandal: Demanding Justice for New York Families The entire New York GOP congressional delegation came together this week to demand answers from the Department of Justice (DOJ) about is decision not to open a civil rights investigation into New York's nursing home scandal. It’s absolutely unconscionable that the DOJ dropped its investigation into Cuomo’s negligent nursing home policies. We wrote a letter, found here, demanding answers and justice for New Yorkers. In part, we wrote: “The people of New York and the thousands of families of nursing home residents who tragically lost their lives due to these unconscionable actions are rightly demanding answers. They deserve full transparency from the Department following the decision to not open a CRIPA investigation, which was provided without any justification in a July 23, 2021 letter to our offices.” Joe Biden’s DOJ is turning its back on the most vulnerable. I’m honored to stand with the entire New York GOP delegation to demand answers and accountability. Going Somewhere? Need a Passport? We can help. Binghamton: 607-242-0200 Utica: 315-713-0713 I Oppose Vaccine Passports and Mandates The vaccine works and Americans who want a vaccine should receive one like I did. But I continue to firmly oppose vaccine passports and mandates, like those being pushed in New York City and elsewhere around the country. Vaccinated Americans are at significantly less risk of contracting and spreading COVID-19. The science also consistently shows that children and schools, especially elementary schools, are not significant transmitters of the virus. The CDC should release the science to the American people and let parents decide the best options for their kids. Have news or updates to share? Email me!
