Dear John,

It’s official: The Recording Academy just announced that the 64th annual GRAMMY Awards in 2022 will use an Inclusion Rider designed to ensure equity and inclusion at every level of production.

Wait, what’s an Inclusion Rider? The Inclusion Rider is an addendum added to a contract that obligates employers to expand and diversify the candidate pool, encourage hiring qualified cast and crew who have been traditionally underrepresented, track progress, and create accountability.

We need your help getting the Inclusion Rider in front of more decision-makers who determine who is hired for crucial roles on and off stage. Can you John join us in sustaining this work by chipping in $5 or more a month? [link removed]

This is poised to be the first major awards show to use an Inclusion Rider. The Recording Academy’s commitment to embed equity practices by shifting the hiring process to recruit people who have been shut out of this industry is one more example how Color Of Change is leveraging our presence to create long-term power.

The full GRAMMY Awards Inclusion Rider will be released publicly in September and will include these essential elements:

→A commitment to deepening and diversifying hiring pools
→Establishing benchmarks or targets for hiring
→Collecting, measuring, and analyzing application and hiring data
→Implementing accountability measures to support progress should they fall short of goals

This is a landmark opportunity that wouldn’t be possible without our partnership with the Recording Academy, and members like you who’ve kept the pressure high and tolerance for exclusion low.

John, if you believe in the impact of this work become a sustaining member today. Make a recurring $5 contribution to Color Of Change to help us launch the next inclusion rider. Let’s drive the necessary actions to secure opportunities for Black people everywhere. [link removed]
