Youth activists will help bring birth control over-the-counter through this campaign

John,

If getting birth control over-the-counter is common sense to you, you’re not alone. We know birth control pills prevent countless unplanned pregnancies a year, but only if you have the means, insurance, and time to get a prescription at the doctor first. It’s time we change that. Advocates for Youth is proud to announce the creation of a #FreeThePill Youth Council, a group of young people leading a campaign to help bring a birth control over-the-counter, covered by insurance with no age-restriction. Are you or someone you know interested in applying? Apply here by Friday, November 1st!

Young people face some of the steepest barriers to accessing contraception - our voices need to be at the forefront of the movement for change. That’s why we are looking for:

  • Youth activists from across the country, ages 14-24, to work remotely as local activists and spokespeople.
  • Youth activists will create publicity campaigns, organize awareness events, and follow legislative updates around efforts to make birth control available over-the-counter.
  • #FreeThePill Youth Activists will create and execute a youth-driven campaign to build support in their communities, on their campuses, and among policymakers.
  • Applicants must be willing to participate in monthly check-in calls and strategy sessions.

If interested, please apply here by Friday, November 1st.

Did you know that Emergency Contraception, like Plan B, used to be available only with a prescription as well? You can get it over-the-counter today because people organized, educated their community, and demanded it. We can do the same thing with birth control. But only if we find some dedicated young people to go all-in. If that’s you or someone you know, please use this link to apply before the end of the month.

In solidarity,
