PRIMARY VICTORIES IN THREE STATES!

We had a slew of primary victories in Connecticut, Michigan and Washington this week! All nine of our candidates who ran in their primaries advanced – and were the top vote getters. These victories will put them in a great position for their general elections in November.

Peter Spadafore, our candidate for the Lansing (MI) City Council, won his primary by 20% of the vote!

Zack Zappone was the frontrunner in his race for the Spokane City Council, beating four other candidates and advancing to the November general.

Carmen Rivera, our candidate for the Renton (WA) City Council, talked with Patch about why she’s running for public office and the issues she’ll focus on if elected. Read the full interview here!

Incumbent candidate Dontae Payne received the most votes of any city council candidate (so far!) in the race for Olympia (WA) City Council.

GAME CHANGING CAMPAIGNS

Brian Sims spoke with The Advocate about his historic race to be Pennsylvania’s next Lt. Governor, saying: “It’s not lost on me in any way that I’m running to be the first out lieutenant governor in a state that doesn’t have LGBTQ equality.”

Daniel Hernandez Jr, now running for Arizona’s 2nd Congressional District, joined the state legislators gathered in Washington, DC calling for voter protections.

Malcolm Kenyatta brought the Pennsylvania Senate race to Washington, DC as he rallied with other legislators calling for voting reforms. Check out some of his pictures here!

Another potential opponent may be jumping into the race against out U.S. Congressman Chris Pappas. Matt Mowers, a former advisor to Chris Christie and senior official in the Trump White House, has reportedly hired Corey Lewandowski. That should tell you all you need to know about Mowers.
