Friends -
We are taking a break from the normal campaign emails today to ask if you can spare a few bucks to help some of the people whose lives have been upended by this already unprecedented wildfire season in California.
Here’s a link to contribute $3, or whatever you can afford, to several charities saving families who have been displaced by the Dixie Fire in Northern California.
Here is the truth:
Climate change is here. The hots are getting hotter. The dries are getting drier. And California is blowing past every record this year, and not in a good way.
We are at more than 5,000 fires across the state and more than half a million acres already burned this year. For some perspective, we had a record-breaking year last year at 130,000 acres burned and are already at 3x that this year.
The historic Gold Rush town of Greenville, California was completely wiped out. As a local fire fighter described, “The post office is gone, the bank is gone, their library, their fire stations, churches, a lot of people’s homes, their livelihood.”
“We lost Greenville,” their congressman said.
There are a lot of people who need help and a number of good charities providing relief. We have a few of them listed at the link below, and are asking if you can chip in a few bucks:
Can Gavin Newsom count on you to split a $3 contribution between several charities helping families whose lives have been upended by the fires in California?

Thank you,
