John,
This is an unpopular opinion among the elites in Washington...
...but the January 6 protestors are Americans, they have constitutional rights, and they deserve due process and to be treated with equality under the law. The way the jail guards and staff treated and verbally accused Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz and Paul Gosar of committing the crime of Trespass, it certainly appeared to reinforce the claim of abuse asserted by attorney James McBride.
Watch me speak out on their behalf ([link removed]) :

Many of these protestors -- and most who haven't even been charged with a violent crime -- are rotting in a D.C. jail without bail, awaiting trial.
We had seen news reports that these people, not convicted of a crime, are in solitary confinement, abused by jail guards, not given access to lawyers, have been overcharged with bogus felonies, and have no trial dates in sight.
We went to visit them today -- a normal activity for members of Congress -- and we were kicked out of the jail. They first accused us of Trespass, then when the Supervisor sent to talk to us went passed us and went outside, we followed her outside after which she hustled into the jail lobby and they locked the public access doors.
It's long past time that our Justice Department answers this very serious question: why are mostly peaceful American protestors being treated worse than terrorists held at GITMO?
Many in the Republican establishment are afraid to speak out about this, and Marxist Democrats are happy they're being punished.
Make no mistake, as a former felony judge who has somberly pronounced the death penalty in appropriate cases. I believe in punishment and punishment fitting the crime. But the stories of abuse by the DOJ and Bureau of Prisons continue to grow.
Americans used to have Constitutional rights and I refuse to abandon Americans regardless of party affiliation or hatred by the media ruling class.
This is not new to me. I did it as an attorney, I did it as a judge, I have visited prisons, jails and half-way houses of all kinds. People should be punished but ONLY after they are convicted. Even in pretrial detention, it is unconstitutional to punish someone.
It is just so clear there are different justice systems in America. It is clear that conservative Republicans, especially if they like President Trump, are treated with contempt, while the leftists currently in power are treated totally different whether they committed crimes or not.
Show me you have my back -- along with the others who will stand up to government supported bigotry -- by contributing to my campaign today ([link removed]) .
Defying the establishment like this, and standing up for these politically persecuted Trump supporters, comes at a cost ([link removed]) .
I'm already one of THE TOP targets for the RINOs in Washington.
They've said explicitly that they want to find a primary or general election opponent to try to take me out.
But I won't stop.
I will continue to seek justice for the Trump supporters rotting in the D.C. jail, and I will continue to put America First.
You can help me by contributing to my reelection campaign right away, so I can fend off any primary challenger I might face from the D.C. Swamp ([link removed]) .
I need your generous contributions today so I can continue to battle the RINOs and the Marxist Democrats on behalf of the America First movement -- including fighting for the rights of the protestors being held in jail and abusively treated in jail.
Our Fifth Amendment gives us the right to due process.
There are some who deserve tough sentences , but it appears there are some peaceful January 6 protestors being punished right now -- and only a couple of protesters have even gone to trial yet.
As I asked this week, where are groups like the ACLU? Where is Human Rights Watch? Where is Amnesty International?
Why aren't these groups standing up for the unjustly persecuted American patriots?
The answer is simple: because these "watchdogs" exist to do the bidding of Marxist Democrats, and globalist Special Interests.
They are partisans, not watchdogs.
I won't back down until these wrongs are righted.
But I need your support now more than ever.
By contributing $10, $25, $50, $100, $250 or MORE to my election campaign right away, you're helping me stay in the fight, so I can keep battling to get to the bottom of the political persecution of these Trump-supporting protestors ([link removed]) .
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter, and for your generous support ([link removed]) .
For Freedom,
Louie Gohmert
U.S. Rep. (TX-1)
P.S. The mostly peaceful January 6 protestors are being held as political prisoners in Washington.
Help me expose this injustice and keep fighting for their rights as Americans with a generous contribution to my election campaign today ([link removed]) .
