Governor Greg Abbott has just been sued by both the Biden Administration and the ACLU for his racist, dangerous border policies.

Last week Gov. Abbott ordered Texas State Troopers to pull over and turn around any vehicle they think could be carrying people seeking asylum or migrating to the US that may have COVID-19.

Abbott’s order is essentially telling State Troopers to racially profile drivers in Texas. You can’t tell whether someone has COVID by looking at them. You can’t tell whether someone is a citizen by looking at them, either.

That’s why he was sued by both the Biden Administration and the ACLU. State Troopers should not have the authority to racially profile Texas drivers, demand their citizenship papers, or take over federal border control functions. It’s simply wrong.

In the past few months, Abbott has stepped up his attacks on our government. He’s defunded the legislature. He’s overruled local health officials. He’s tried to take away the votes of thousands of Texans.
