Back in March, I told you state legislatures around the country had introduced over 250 voter suppression bills. Last month, I told you that number had risen to 389.
Now, it’s over 400. And since the beginning of the year, 18 states have enacted 30 laws that make it harder to vote.
Frankly, I’m going to keep talking to you about this issue until we do something about it.
As Congresswoman for New Jersey’s 11th District, I’m 100% committed to defending our democracy, and voting is foundational to our democracy. In Congress, I’m fighting to protect and expand voting rights and make our elections more secure against attacks like the kind we witnessed on January 6th.
Today is the 56th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and in honor of this historic piece of legislation, I want to gather 5,600 signatures in support of protecting voting rights. Will you add your name to mine? [[link removed]]
Unfortunately in recent weeks, there have been even more setbacks for voting rights in our country.

Court
issued
a
decision
that
further
weakens
the
Voting
Rights
Act
and
its
landmark
protections,
paving
the
way
for
state
lawmakers
spearheading
the
assault
on
voting
rights
to
keep
doing
what
they’re
doing.

Senate
Republicans
blocked
debate
on
the
For
the
People
Act,
a
bill
that
I
voted
for
in
the
House
to
prevent
the
influx
of
voter
suppression
bills
at
the
state
level.
