Onward to the general

John,
As the dust settles on this year's primary election, we want to thank you for your work. Whether you voted, advocated for an environmental champion in your community, or took part in one of our Get Out The Vote (GOTV) activities — our democracy is stronger because of you.
When you show up to vote and participate in elections you send a clear message to the candidates that constituents care about environmental justice. As the late civil rights hero, U.S. Representative John Lewis said, "The vote is precious. It is the most powerful non-violent tool we have in a democratic society, and we must use it.”
While a few races are still too close to call, almost all of the candidates who received WCV endorsements and embraced the Evergreen Future platform are advancing to the general election. This is a critical step to ensure we have the best possible slate of candidates on our ballots in November.
We have just 89 days until November 2nd, the date of the general election. Local elections matter — whether it's a County Council prohibiting expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure, a Port Commission saying no to exporting fracked gas, or a City Council making investments in clean water or community forests — who we elect determines how environmentally just our communities will be.
In the coming the weeks, we'll be sharing ways to get involved and engage your friends and family in why these elections are important. For now, if you're eligible, make sure your information is updated and you are registered to vote for the general election! [[link removed]]
Thank you for all you do for our democracy,
Lennon Bronsema
