Jim Daly and Other Men Tell Powerful Stories About Their Fathers and Fatherhood in New Documentary by Kendrick Brothers
By: Brittany Raymer
What is a father? What is fatherhood? For some, they define it by a loving and involved father, a man who is deeply invested in his children’s lives. However, that’s not the experience everyone has. Some have a difficult or strained relationship with their father, often due to generational hurts and abandonment.
But for those who are struggling or don’t have a strong father figure, God can truly become that father.
That’s part of the message of the Kendrick Brother’s new documentary “Show Me the Father,” and it plays a crucial part of Jim Daly’s story, the president of Focus on the Family.

Jack Phillips Appeals Bad Decision in Transgender Cake Case
By: Bruce Hausknecht
There has not been a day since 2012 when Jack Phillips, the Christian baker and owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop in Lakewood, Colorado, has not been the subject of legal proceedings designed to force him to compromise his deeply held beliefs by using his artistic talents to create a custom-designed cake that celebrates a message he objects to.
Despite winning a U.S. Supreme Court victory in 2018 vindicating his First Amendment freedom of religion against a hostile Colorado Civil Rights Commission, activists on the left won’t leave him alone. On the very day the high court announced it would hear Jack’s case, a transgender activist lawyer in Denver called Jack’s shop to order a custom cake celebrating his transition from male to female, hoping Jack would say “no” based on his religious beliefs.

School District Won’t Say Whether ‘Pornographic’ Books Are Available to Students. Parents Group Sues.
By: Zachary Mettler
A Florida school district is being sued after refusing to disclose whether it makes pornographic books available for students to access.
Florida Citizens United is a nonprofit organization which seeks to “improve Florida’s K-12 education by uniting and empowering teachers, students, and parents” through legislative action, community involvement and education solutions.
In 2021, the group compiled a list of 41 books that it believes are pornographic and then filed a public records request with Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) to see if the district has the books available to students.

Simone Biles’ Olympic Finish Reminds Us We’re All a Work in Progress
By: Paul Batura
In an instant, Simone Biles had become the talk of this summer’s Olympic Games in Tokyo – and for unfortunate reasons no athlete would wish on their worst enemy.
After struggling in the early days of competition, Biles sidelined herself citing the need to tend to her mental health.
Overnight, a national conversation on mental health commenced, and in this age of explosive social media punditry, there was no shortage of opinions. Both supporters and detractors weighed in on the unexpected decision. Many praised her boldness and vulnerability, while others questioned her sincerity, toughness and ulterior motives.
“I got a lot of great comments, like a lot of outpouring of support and love, but I also got a lot of bad stuff,” Biles acknowledged. “You guys have no idea what we’re going through.”

Missouri Pastor Donates Kidney to Church Member in Need
By: Kennedy Unthank
When it comes to Paul’s writing about being “one body with many members” in 1 Corinthians 12, one pastor has a leg up on the competition.
Jack Coultas is the pastor of Park Grove Christian Church in Deepwater, Missouri, a town with a population of 412 people as of 2019. He soon discovered that one of the members of his church, Jeremy Whitman, needed a new kidney as a result of diabetes. Coultas explained that this is when he felt God pushing him to do something more than just praying.
“When it was first brought up that he would need a new kidney, the Lord put it on my heart that I should be thinking about it,” Coultas said. “A verse that was regularly coming to mind was a passage out of 1 John 3:16-17: ‘We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?”
