Right now polls in Virginia are close—within the “margin of error” close.
Democratic wins in Virginia this November are not inevitable, so we need to write as many letters as possible now to boost voter turnout in the fall. Democrats elected in 2019 are particularly at risk, and many Republican candidates are outpacing their Democratic opponents in fundraising.
GOP wins in Virginia would undo the progress of the last few years and mean: gun safety measure rollbacks, voter suppression, fewer protections for LGBTQ+ people, and more. Republican candidates—from governor to delegates—are running on misinformation, and they have track records of working against the best interests of Virginians.
If Republicans win this November, they will no doubt use a Virginia victory to propel them into the 2022 midterm elections. So we need to do the hard work of encouraging voter turnout now.
