Good morning Friend --

We hope you are doing well and staying safe. As we look toward the Fall, our work continues and we hope you will find ways to get involved! This year is the People Alliance’s 45th Anniversary. Depending on public health considerations, we will be celebrating with an outdoor party in either Fall 2021 or Spring 2022. Our tentative date is October 15th at the Durham Farmers’ Market — please hold the date on your calendars and we will let you know once we finalize more details.

As part of the celebration, we plan to honor progressive champions over the last 45 years. To nominate someone for this award, please fill out this survey <[link removed]>.

Finally, mark your calendars for the PA PAC Endorsement Meeting on September 1st. We will vote on endorsements for the Durham City Council Ward races and the Durham Mayor’s 2022 primary races.

We will also vote on whether to finalize the People's Alliance's interim grievance and harassment policy, which was provisionally approved at our last membership meeting. Please read and consider this policy in advance here <[link removed]>.

Lapsed members who have not yet renewed their membership for the 2021 calendar year can renew online <[link removed]> up until five days before the endorsement meeting to speak on behalf of a candidate and vote for their preferred candidates. Because the meeting will be virtual, memberships must be paid up five days prior to the meeting to allow for the People's Alliance to process those memberships and send the zoom link to registered members.

New members — those who join less than 60 days before the endorsement meeting — are encouraged to attend and speak on behalf of candidates but cannot vote to endorse a candidate for office. We look forward to seeing you there!

For more ways to get involved, check out our listing of action team meetings below.

Onward,
