Friend, at my Iowa town hall I got a chance to hear from caucusgoers about real problems they face.
One question really stuck with me: A community leader asked what I’d do about the people who live on the edge of the middle-class, where one unexpected bill or expense could throw them into financial chaos.
This question is what our whole campaign should be about: building opportunity to ensure that hardworking families can live good middle-class lives, free from fear of surprise bills sending them into debt.
Here’s one of my solutions: By increasing the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit, we can reduce childhood poverty by 40% and put more money in the hands of hardworking people — instead of giving more tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans.
