There's a great deal in the news about the fight for fair elections -- but today I want to talk to you about something that's happening in just a few days: The Census Bureau will release its final redistricting data. When that happens, the redistricting process will begin in full.
I can't stress this enough, John: We need to be prepared. Everything we've been working on over the last four years has led up to this moment. We've won elections, we've achieved reforms, we've built our movement, we've developed deep expertise -- and now, the last piece we need to ensure a fair redistricting process in states across the country is you.

We know what the GOP's strategy for redistricting is because they've made it public. They're planning to "crack" areas that tend to vote Democratic into pieces and "pack" them into majority-conservative districts -- just like they did in 2011. They think that because they have state legislative majorities in several key states, they'll get away with this plan.
But I know they're wrong because the movement we've been building for the last four years will not allow it. Our people -- folks like you -- are engaged, vigilant, and committed to a fair and functioning democracy. And I know you'll do everything you can to make sure that the maps we get out of redistricting represent everyone.
