Let's take a step back and acknowledge what far-right Republicans are doing to our democracy.
In 2021, state legislatures across the country passed 30 bills restricting our freedom to vote. That's 30 bills making it harder for people to get a ballot, to submit a ballot, or reach the ballot box at all.
Why? Because they know when more people vote, they'll lose.
The problem isn't isolated to state legislatures either. The U.S. Senate had the opportunity to prove themselves as defenders of our democratic values. They could've passed the For the People Act, they could have voted on the John Lewis Voting Rights Act -- but so far, they haven't.
That's because Mitch McConnell and Senate obstructionists would rather undermine democracy than give up power.
