Centre for Mental Health news

August 2021

Hello from Andy!

Dear friends,

We know that the pandemic’s impact on mental health will be long-lasting and that services have their work cut out to respond to rising numbers of people needing support. This month we’ve launched
Now or never, which sets out the key areas for investment to make our mental health system fit for the future. Our chief economist, Nick O’Shea, talks through the key takeaways from the report in this video.

It is an absolute pleasure to welcome
Dr Amy Pollard as our new writer in residence. Register now for a webinar where Amy will be exploring the concepts of loneliness and banishment from a mental health perspective.

A huge thank you to
the Shree Kutch Satsang Swaminarayan Temple for naming us as one of their Charities of the Year! Members of the Temple will be kicking off the year's fundraising events this weekend -
support them here.

We extend our solidarity to Simone Biles, Lisa McNally and to everyone facing anything but compassion when disclosing their experience of mental health difficulties. You can read our reflections on this
here.

Take care,

Andy
