Hello,
Today marks the anniversary of the landmark Voting Rights Act — a monumental step toward outlawing discriminatory practices meant to suppress Black and Brown voters.
But 56 years later, voter suppression continues to run rampant across our country.
In Michigan and across the country, we’re seeing blatant voter suppression in voter ID laws, purged voter registration rolls, closed polling places, insufficient access to vote-by-mail, and more — and communities of color have received the brunt of it all.
That’s why Democrats introduced a bill to restore and expand the Voting Rights Act — The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. In honor of the late Congressman John Lewis, who put his life on the line to give Black Americans the right to vote.
Can I count on you to join Michigan Democrats by adding your name and supporting a push for a strengthening of the Voting Rights Act on its 56th anniversary? Please, sign your name next to mine:

Republicans will continue their dangerous voter suppression tactics unless we act, and the best way for us to stop them is by restoring the Voting Rights Act.
Thanks for taking action.
