Hi John,
In Aberdeen, WA, there’s a women’s shelter and a men’s shelter but no family shelter. Boys over 12 aren’t allowed to stay in the women’s shelter with their moms and they can’t stay in the men’s shelter alone. So where do they go? Into the woods. They just sleep in the woods.
There also used to be a camp by the river where people lived for over a decade.
In Tacoma last winter, a homeless senior died of exposure in his wheelchair.
Nearby, people live in a tent city in the industrial port that is in the exact same location as a Hooverville from the Great Depression.
Homelessness in the richest country on earth is a moral stain.
If you agree that a child shouldn’t be sleeping in the woods while Jeff Bezos goes on vanity trips to space, please donate now so I can fight for housing for all in Congress.
There are 28 empty homes for every homeless person in the U.S.
It would cost only 1% of our annual military budget to end homelessness.
There is no excuse for 550,000 people being homeless, and I’m running for Congress to fight for them. Please give now to help me win, because this is a grassroots campaign and every dollar helps:
