Inside Climate News ([link removed]) (10/11/19) blog: "A new wave of climate protests hit cities around the world this week—this time aimed at shocking people with civil disobedience, fake blood on the pavement and bodies lying in the streets under signs that read: "Stop funding climate death." The Extinction Rebellion activists and the school strikers are both decentralized coalitions that are giving young people a way to stand up for their future. Between them, the groups have a long list of school strikes, rallies and acts of civil disobedience planned through the rest of the year, including a major youth climate strike planned for Nov. 29, Black Friday, known for holiday shopping in the United States. Alexandria Villaseñor, a 14-year-old climate activist from New York who founded Earth Uprising and is an organizer with the school climate strike group Fridays for Future, is
emblematic of their determination. She announced last month that she would be taking her school education on the road as she tours the country to continue organizing climate strikes. 'I'll be traveling and striking in a different city, or maybe even a different country, every Friday,' she wrote on Twitter.'"

The rumors of the demise of automobiles have been greatly exaggerated.

(10/16/19) reports: "Throw your driver’s license out the window. Better yet, don’t get one at all. For nearly a decade, that’s been the message from buzzy transportation companies. In 2011, car-sharing company Zipcar touted a study claiming millennials believe car ownership is difficult. The same year, Zimride, founded by the guys who would later cofound Lyft, was touted as a startup challenging the 'old model of individual ownership.' Former Uber head Travis Kalanick boasted that his driver’s license had expired and that his 1999 BMW M3 convertible—his only car—had a broken alternator...But here’s the funny thing: Personal car ownership in the US has actually increased in the past 10 years, even in the frenzied urban places where Uber and car-share have become verbs. According to research from former New York City transportation official Bruce Schaller, the number of vehicles has grown faster than the population in some of the cities where ride-hail is most popular: Boston, Los Angeles,
New York, Philadelphia, and Chicago."

The scam only works if the polar bears are dying.

Zoologist Dr. Susan Crockford is routinely hired by biologists and archeologists in Canada and abroad to identify the remains of mammals, birds and fish. She has helped catalog museum collections, and assisted police with forensic analyses. But UVic students will no longer benefit from her expertise, and her ability to apply for research grants has come to a screeching halt. In May, the Anthropology Department withdrew her Adjunct Professor status, depriving her of a university affiliation...Crockford is the author of a popular blog, polarbearscience.com, as well as five books about these animals. Polar Bear Facts and Myths has been translated into four languages. She says that, contrary to the claims of environmental activists, polar bears are currently thriving and are at
no risk of extinction from climate change...Because her polar bear message conflicts with activist rhetoric, and because activists apparently complained to administrators, her career as an academic researcher has come to an abrupt end."

The only chance people had to learn about the cost of the Green New Deal was during the commercial breaks.

(10/15/19) reports: "A new ad highlighting the 'Green New Deal's' (GND) financial toll will debut as Democrats take the debate stage on Tuesday night. The ad, created by the right-leaning Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), will portray for voters a stark contrast between life under 'common-sense energy policies' and an economy 'strangled' by the GND...It ends by plainly asking viewers: 'Can you afford it?' The ad is just the latest of CEI's efforts to warn about what it considers to be catastrophic impacts of climate alarmism. 'At a time when technology and innovation have led the United States to become the world’s largest producer of oil and gas and lowered energy prices, alarmist politicians and activists are using doomsday predictions to advance harmful energy rationing policies that will cost Americans tens of thousands of dollars,' CEI President Kent Lassman said in a statement provided to Fox News."

(10/16/19) reports: "State lawmakers are considering a bill to ban the sale and use of all balloons in Massachusetts. 'The sale, distribution and release of any type of balloon, including, but not limited to, plastic, latex or mylar, filled with any type of lighter than air gas, both for public or private use, is hereby prohibited,' the bill sponsored by Rep. Sarah Peake, D-Provincetown, states. Violators would be fined up to $100. A hearing was held on the proposal Tuesday. According to WesternMassNews.com, supporters of the bill say balloons can be deadly for animals and bad for the environment. But opponents said the proposed measure would hurt businesses."
