ECPAT-USA is excited to announce that over 500,000 hotel associates have been trained through the hotel industry’s free human trafficking awareness e-learning since its release in early 2020. This incredible achievement was shared by American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) President and CEO Chip Rogers and ECPAT-USA CEO Lori L. Cohen at an AHLA Foundation event last week held in honor of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
The free training program, “Your Role In Preventing Human Trafficking: Recognize the Signs,” was developed by ECPAT-USA in collaboration with Marriott International, AHLA, and Polaris. Thanks to the generous support of the AHLA Foundation, it was made available for free last year, just in time to assist hotels during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The hotel industry plays a critical role in human trafficking prevention and awareness. Through the e-learning program, associates are given the tools to be able to identify and respond to suspected instances of trafficking, serving on the front line in ECPAT-USA's child protection work.
Organizations that make child protection a priority are crucial to our work, and we thank AHLA, Marriott International, and all our partners in the hotel industry who are helping to create a real impact when it comes to ending child sex trafficking and exploitation.
“Your Role In Preventing Human Trafficking: Recognize the Signs” is available now on our site in 17 languages, at no cost to participating companies.
