Friend,
Today, we lost a leader in our shared fight for workers' rights and wages—AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka. Trumka understood, like many committed labor leaders, that there was nothing more powerful than workers fighting together for human dignity in the workplace. Together, let’s honor Richard Trumka's passing by joining our allies at the AFL-CIO in calling for the swift passage of the PRO Act to strengthen labor unions and the rights and wages of working people?
Across the country, workers are rising up for safe working conditions, living wages, better benefits, and human dignity. Their jobs range from coal mining to rideshare drivers to production at big corporations like Frito-Lay.
I support workers who are demanding that their work be recognized and valued. Are you with me?
Add your name to support the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act to strengthen the rights and wages of working people. Thank you!
Corporate profits have soared throughout this pandemic, but working people have not seen the fruits of their own labor. Instead of hazard pay for workers and increased protections, many corporations have been openly union-busting.
We’re seeing corporations like Amazon illegally retaliating against working people without consequence. This is unacceptable.
Now, through the PRO Act, we have an opportunity to hold corporations accountable for worker intimidation and retaliation, and to expand workers’ rights to fight for safety and fairness in the workplace.
Can you sign the petition supporting the PRO Act—the most significant worker empowerment legislation since the Great Depression?
Many times over the years, I’ve been fortunate to join workers striking for respect and equity.
For me, this issue is personal. When my dad joined the United Auto Workers (UAW), he ensured we had health insurance for the first time. I know from experience that strong unions uplift people and their ability to provide for their families.
When the House passed the PRO Act earlier this year, I was proud that the bill included my amendment to help eliminate employer stall tactics in contract arbitration and deliver union workers their rights more expeditiously. If passed by the U.S. Senate, it would also ensure the enforceability of our labor laws, protect undocumented workers and gig workers, and repeal “right to work” laws that have decimated unions in dozens of states—including Michigan.
We can’t allow corporations to continue making billions of dollars off the backs of workers, without even paying a living wage or providing other essential needs like healthcare.
Strong unions mean higher wages, safer working conditions, and dignity for all people who work. Passing the PRO Act is our first step to getting there. Now we need to pass it in the Senate.
Can you add your name in support of the PRO Act today?
Always serving you,
Rashida
