METRO WASHINGTON LABOR COUNCIL
MOURNS THE LOSS OF AFL-CIO PRESIDENT RICHARD TRUMKA
Statement from Metro Washington Labor Council AFL-CIO President Dyana Forester on the passing of AFL-CIO President Richard L. Trumka:
Washington, DC - The metropolitan Washington labor movement joins its sisters and brothers around the world in mourning the loss of AFL-CIO President Richard L. Trumka.
President Trumka was a national and global labor leader but he lived and worked here in Washington. He always had time for the local battles that he knew not only meant so much to metro-area workers and their families, but which always had national implications.
From DC statehood to Montgomery County labor issues, Rich took a keen interest and always answered the call when needed. A history and movie fan, he was also a longtime supporter of our annual DC LaborFest.
We join workers throughout our nation and around the world as we mourn Richard L. Trumka, and we rededicate ourselves to our shared struggle for dignity and a better life for all workers.
President Trumka was the focus of today's Your Rights At Work radio show on WPFW, available [link removed] here now and later this afternoon on the [link removed] YRAW podcast.[link removed]
