Despite the common misperception that top earners don’t pay their ‘fair share’ of taxes, in reality these households pay a disproportionately large share of the total tax bill.
A new Fraser Institute study out today shows that the top 20% of income-earning families pay more than half of total taxes including personal income, sales and property taxes.
Compare that to the bottom 20% of income-earning families who earn 5.5% of total income, but pay just 2.3% of total taxes.
