Throughout the pandemic, digital access to virtual exhibits, online educational programing, streaming performances and other cultural experiences helped bring the arts to people around the world. Last month, we launched a $30 million international Digital Accelerator Program to help cultural nonprofits build on their efforts to reach audiences, increase fundraising, and continue to deliver dynamic programming virtually and in person. Learn more about the Digital Accelerator and read coverage of the launch in the New York Times.
In the past decade, more than 2.5 million people have drowned globally — including many young people and children. It's an issue Mike is focused on as World Health Organization Global Ambassador for Noncommunicable Diseases and Injuries, and Bloomberg Philanthropies has worked for years to prevent drowning in low- and middle-income countries, where more than 90% of drowning deaths occur and where children under the age of five are most at risk. Progress is being made: This year the United Nations declared July 25th as the first-ever World Drowning Prevention Day. But there's more to be done. Check out our video "Drowning in the Delta: Preventing Childhood Drowning in Bangladesh," and listen to our recent Follow the Data podcast, where public health officials from Bangladesh and Vietnam discuss life-saving solutions to this global challenge.
Dr. Henning, who leads our Public Health programs, writes on CNN.com that "governments have been too slow to pass policies that we know protect people from the tobacco industry's relentless push to addict new generations of children." Her op-ed outlines proven strategies for reducing tobacco use — and saving lives.

The report outlines progress that each G-20 member country has made toward moving to a low-carbon economy. It was released to increase transparency and highlight areas where G-20 governments can take immediate steps.
