Hey there, friend --

Last month, Jeff Bezos left the earth for a $7.5 billion spaceship joyride. He returned with a “greater appreciation of Earth’s fragility.” Here’s what happened in those 11 minutes he was gone:

- The average Amazon employee, whom he thanked for making his trip “possible,” made approximately $2.56
- His own wealth increased by approximately $1.5 million

We’re not in the business of telling folks how to spend their money...but if Jeff Bezos can go to space for a photo op, he can afford to pay his fair share of taxes like the rest of us. And so can the other billionaires racing to space.

Taxing the rich is not a radical notion. It has overwhelming support among the majority of Americans, across the political spectrum: [[link removed]]. And while the American Rescue Plan is working, we’re far from done: the United States still has nearly seven million fewer jobs than before the pandemic, and the unemployment rate for Black workers in June was 9.2 percent. It’s clear we must keep up the pressure to ensure our economy truly works for all people.

Honestly -- if we let these billionaires continue to race their ego trips all the way to space, everyone loses. So -- here are some quick but powerful ways you can fight for economic justice:

→ Help make noise that Congress cannot ignore. Send out a tweet calling on your representatives to tax the rich:

→ Watch and share this video from the Center for American Progress' Action Fund to understand why the rich must finally start paying their fair share:

→ Sign the petition and tell Democratic leaders to use their power to tax the rich:

Together, we can fix the tax code that allows a few people at the top to suck money out of the infrastructure we need to make real steps toward fixing systematic inequality. Thank you for fighting with us.

In solidarity --
