Hiroshima Day: take action this weekend
76 years ago, on 6th August 1945, the United States dropped a nuclear bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Three days later, it dropped another one on Nagasaki. Up to 300,000 people were killed in total as a result, many in the most painful way possible.
The continued human catastrophe of Hiroshima serves as a warning of the immeasurable danger nuclear weapons pose to humanity. Our thoughts are with the people of that city.
Join CND this weekend as we mark this anniversary and re-commit to our campaign for a world without nuclear weapons.

CND is encouraging our supporters to join an international grassroots action that will allow people – wherever they are – to join together in one action.
Waves of anti-nuclear peace actions will sweep the globe between August 2nd-9th, and CND is encouraging actions in the UK at 11am on the morning of August 6th.

CND has put together an online exhibition to share stories and artefacts about what happened in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The exhibition also looks at controversial issues such as whether the bombings were necessary to end the Second World War.
