In my job at the Children's Defense Fund, I look at numbers every day. I analyze metrics and statistics to figure out what story they're telling us--and I can assure you that the data on the CDF Freedom Schools® program's impact speaks for itself.
According to assessment results from the last five years, almost all children either improved (55.4 percent) or maintained (28.5 percent) their reading skills over the course of the six-week CDF Freedom Schools program. And academic growth isn't the only improvement we see: last year, 98 percent of parents saw increased confidence in their children after they spent their summer at a CDF Freedom Schools program.
