Federal judges serve a lifetime on the bench, and President Biden has put forward many diverse nominees committed to equal justice. Our nation needs judges who will protect and recognize the rights of all people, and these nominations are a crucial first step.
Soon, the Senate Judiciary Committee (SJC) is expected to vote on the confirmation of voting rights champion Myrna Pérez of New York for the Second Circuit . Some Senate Republicans have already signaled they’ll stop at nothing to block confirmation of qualified, diverse judges, and have shown their hands with baseless attacks on other women of color nominees like Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.
