Governor Greg Abbott is threatening to arrest Texas Democrats

Team: Over the past few weeks, all eyes have been on Texas, as Republicans there have pushed to pass one of the most restrictive voter suppression bills in the country. In a last-ditch effort to block this extreme legislation, Texas Democrats broke quorum by fleeing to D.C. to stop the bill from passing.

Future Forum Member Rep. Joaquin Castro reflected on this critical moment, saying:

The legislation Texas Republicans are attempting to pass is inspired by Trump’s election fraud lies. It would eliminate drive-thru and 24-hour early voting that was used in the Houston area last year due to the pandemic, increase ID requirements, and make it harder for new Americans, people of color, and students to be able to cast their ballots.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott is threatening to arrest Texas Democrats when they return, but when it comes to protecting our democracy, these lawmakers remain committed to stopping this regressive legislation from becoming law.

Sign on now to say that you stand with Texas Democrats and their fight to defend voting rights for the American people.
