The nation’s highest honor—for someone we know and love!

Dear Friends,

For the past 22 years, former U.S. Attorney General Edwin Meese III has blessed Pacific Justice Institute as the Honorary Chairman of our Advisory Board. He was among the first to catch the vision for PJI, and he has worked steadfastly for all these years—often behind the scenes—to help us become the force for freedom that we are today.

This past week, General Meese’s many years of humble and transformative service to our nation were recognized in a big way. President Trump awarded General Meese our nation’s highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

I can’t think of a more worthy recipient. Most people wouldn’t know this, because of his humility, but General Meese has been instrumental since the early 1980s to build the conservative legal movement into what it is today. In his role as our 75th U.S. Attorney General under President Reagan, General Meese articulated and led the return to original understanding of the Constitution. He continues to be a role model for me and countless others who know him and have been inspired by him, including members of the Supreme Court.
