Friend,

Three hours. Dozens of questions. But not one single question about the climate crisis.

Last night, CNN, The New York Times, and the DNC failed us. They failed the American people, and they failed the young leaders striking and demanding action.

I won't stand for it. And you shouldn't either. It's up to us to hold candidates, the Party, and the media accountable right here right now-- and I'll use my megaphone to do just that. But if I don't win this re-election, I'll lose that megaphone and my position as a national leader on climate.

We need to fight back and be vocal right now. If you want to make sure climate stays part of the national discussion, donate to my re-election campaign today. Every donation makes a difference. Donate $1 or more right now.

It is unbelievable that last night the moderators had time to ask about Ellen but not about our climate and our future.

When DNC Chair Tom Perez refused our call for a climate debate, he said: "Beginning in 2017, I made clear to our media partners that the issue of climate change must be featured prominently in our debates. That didn't happen in 2016 -- and it was wrong." Well, guess what, when it comes to the most critical issues facing all Americans -- last night's debate failed us.

The climate crisis is a foreign policy issue. It's an economic issue. It's a justice and equality issue. It's a women's issue. It's a health care issue. It's THE issue, because it's the existential crisis of our time.

That's why I can't for the life of me understand why the moderators did not ask even one question about it. And I'm not just disappointed -- I'm angry.

If we don't show our strength, if we don't show we're united in anger about last night's "debate," I can't promise that these presidential debates will get any better or show any more interest in saving millions of lives and our planet. But I can promise that I will hold the Party, the press, and the future Democratic nominee accountable, whoever she or he may be.

A donation right now before our mid-month deadline sends a message to the Party, to the media, and to the 2020 nominees that climate deserves everything we've got -- donate $1 or more right now.

Very truly yours,

Jay
