The Delta variant is now the dominant strain of COVID-19 in Colorado and across the country. 95% of new cases in our state are believed to be of the Delta variant, and just in the last week, 5,000 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported.

With an uptick in community spread, it's important to stay vigilant so we can keep making progress and recover from the pandemic. The COVID-19 vaccine remains the best defense against COVID-19.

Jason is working hard in Congress to build an inclusive economy and provide more relief, but getting rid of COVID-19 requires all of us to come together. Here are some steps you can take to help keep our community safe:

1. Make sure that you and everyone in your household are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The vaccination is both safe and effective and is the best way to prevent a serious case of COVID-19. If you're not already vaccinated, find a vaccination site.

2. Take note of where you're required to wear a mask, and consider masking up whenever indoors in public.
