Donald Trump nominated a full 30% of active appeals court judges[1] – including installing many anti-voter judges – which has tilted our federal judicial system worrisomely to the right. We can’t waste any time in rebalancing our court, and that’s why the vote on Pérez’s nomination tomorrow is so important.
It’s critical that we undo the harm done by Trump and Mitch McConnell and confirm fair-minded, superbly qualified Biden nominees like Myrna Pérez, a civil and voting rights expert who understands the central importance of the right to vote in our democracy.
Trump nominated HALF of the active judges who now sit on the 13-seat Second Circuit. With three current vacancies, we have a real opportunity to shift the balance of this powerful court by confirming fair-minded jurists who respect democracy and will uphold Americans’ constitutional rights.[2]
