Yesterday news broke that the National Labor Relations Board said Amazon interfered with the conditions necessary to conduct a fair election when workers held a vote to unionize at a warehouse in Bessemer, Alabama.
This is unsurprising when, for years, labor laws have been chipped away and weakened by anti-worker legislators.
Whether it’s Amazon warehouse workers in Alabama fighting to unionize or workers at Frito-Lay in Kansas pushing to end mandatory overtime, it’s clear that workers are in desperate need of legislation that will strengthen their power to come together and fight for their rights... and that’s what the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act does.
The House already passed its version of the PRO Act back in March and President Biden supports it.
Now, It’s time for the Senate to act.

It’s been nearly 5 months since the House of Representatives passed H.R.842, the PRO Act.
This is an absolutely critical law that gives power to workers by restoring workers’ rights to unionize, giving them the ability to bargain for higher wages, increased benefits, and safer workplace conditions.
Just think, if the PRO Act had already been in place when Amazon warehouse workers were voting to unionize, the workers and the National Labor Relations Board, not Amazon, would have controlled the timing of union elections.
And if the PRO Act had already been in place when Frito-Lay workers went on strike, the union could have had more power to negotiate a deal that completely ended mandatory overtime while increasing pay and improving working conditions.
The bottom line is that passing the PRO Act is essential for reigning in the power corporations have over their workers.
